Gold Coast foot clinic

Each year, after our winter hibernation and the weather warms up the ProMed team gears up for our annual plantar fasciitis season. Commonly, once the weather warms up, we all feel inspired to get outside and start to enjoy some activity. Starting a new exercise program should be done gradually to allow your body to adapt to increased pressure. Unfortunately, that inspiration and motivation can lead to injury, commonly plantar fasciitis.

What is plantar fasciitis?

The plantar fascia is a ligament that starts underneath your heel and is a fan shaped ligament that attaches to all your toes. It acts like a suspension on a bridge and is constantly under tension when you are weight bearing. Plantar fasciitis is when you tear strands of this ligament usually from an injury. The pain from this injury can be intense and impact greatly on your work and home activities.

Can you treat plantar fasciitis?

Yes we can. We specifically assess the injury and cause to design an individually tailored treatment plan. This treatment plan will not only target the inflammation and pain but aim to address the cause and provide you with tools to prevent the recurrence of this injury.

At ProMed Podiatry, we use a wide range of treatment protocols to help target the inflammation and mechanical forces to speed up the healing process. Some of the tools we use to treat this condition include:

  • Electrotherapy – therapeutic ultrasound and interferential therapies
  • Ice and heat therapy
  • Strapping therapy
  • Footwear assessment and advice
  • Rehabilitation program – strengthening and stretching program
  • Guided exercise program
  • Individually tailored home therapy programs
  • Orthotic therapy – if required
  • Compression therapy
  • And many other tools to help resolve this debilitating condition

If you, or someone you know is experiencing foot pain, do not suffer any longer. Call our skilled team to help you achieve freedom from pain and get back into action!

What are Technical Socks ?

Socks are socks – right?

Technology is all around us – including in socks!

Traditional socks have their place but if you suffer from particular foot conditions then you really need to consider a technical sock. Technical socks and sleeves deliver targeted compression to the muscles and joints for a variety of performance and health benefits: help to relieve pain from muscle stiffness and soreness, reduce time for muscle recovery, improve venous return and oxygenation.

Some conditions that the technical socks can help with include:

  • Plantarfasciitis
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Arch/Heel pain
  • Foot arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Circulation support
  • Sensitive feet
