If Valentines Day isn’t the day for indulging in chocolate and strawberries then when is?!

This beautiful dessert can be made ahead of time and is pretty easy yet will leave a lasting impression!

1/2 cup butter
220g 50% dark chocolate, chopped
3/4 cup coconut or brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/4  tsp salt
450g strawberries, sliced
220g 50% dark chocolate, chopped


  1. Melt the chocolate and butter in a sauce pan over medium heat and let cool.
  2. Mix the sugar and vanilla into the eggs.
  3. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Mix the melted chocolate into the egg mixture followed by the flour mixture.
  5. Pour the batter into a grease (optionally foil lined) baking pan and bake in a preheated 180C oven until a toothpick pushed into the centre comes out clean, about 20-25 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle the strawberries on top of the brownies.
  7. Melt the chocolate over medium-low heat on the stove or in a microwave, pour it over the strawberries and let cool until the chocolate is set, about 30-60 minutes.
