Nail Surgery
Podiatrists perform Nail Surgeries to treat recurrent nail problems such as ingrown nails, fungal nails, painful thickened nails and highly curved nails.
It involves the removal of a small part of the side of the nail, followed by the application of a chemical which prevents that small section of the nail from regrowing. We can also remove a full nail if required.
The procedure is performed in our clinic, and takes approximately one hour. Local anaesthetic is used to ensure the procedure is pain free. Different health practitioners may use different surgical techniques, but studies have shown our method to be the most effective, with a 97% success rate.
An initial assessment with your Podiatrist is required prior to nail surgery. During this appointment, your Podiatrist will:
- assess if nail surgery is the best treatment option for your condition.
- assess your medical history, surgical history and medications. This will determine your eligibility for the procedure.
- Assess your vascular status
- Discuss the procedure and post-operative care
Please call our friendly staff to book an appointment to discuss the option of nail surgery on 07 5522 1230 or book online.
